im not used to keepin up with these things, but what the hey. ill go ahead and do one.
1st off...um...i dont really know what to say? my summers been cool i guess. kinda layed back and mostly just kept to myself and had a summer for me.
-SUMMER-
big news, i got a job finally. i work at FootAction at the mall...my town is too small to have a mall, so i drive like 15 min to work, which is cool, cuse i like driving a lot, and plus i get to listen to some tunes on the way.
the job is so freakin awesome, im really feelin it. basically, footlocker just recently bought footaction, and now footlocker wants my store to change the stockroom to suit footlocker's method. so really, im a stock boy, and i move all these shoes from one shelf to the self across the room, and organize em to be found quickly. some would bitch about it, but im fine with it. i mean, hey, at least my ass is workin! and i do help customers too, im not just always stocking shoes
for awhile during summer, b4 i got my job, i was doing those pages for mark brook's contest at drawstick. my day was really just do nothing all day, and draw at night from like 10/11 to 3/4 listening to music. thats really my time...my session, where im alone, getting deep into my music, and feeling more creative to draw. thats seriously what i look forward to during the day. what im gonna listen to? i usually have like 4 albums i wanna get through, but my art side craps out on me, and i only listen to 2 lol
now, my i just work during the day, and come home, maybe play some streetfighter online (which im a little bit too addicted to) and then listen to music and draw for like an hour or 2. i get to beat to draw any longer than that.
-MUSIC-
lately, ive been getting deeper into this underground stuff, getting all these albums ive been wanting, learning about new artists, all that jist. and im always afraid of buying an album, and not listening to it enough to fully appreciate everything about it (which is my soul purpose of buying it...what else is music good for? dancing? no thanks...), and then getting a new album and not fully appreciating that one either.
ill just run off some of the recent cds ive copped and havent givin them their well deserved listening:
-Haiku d'etat-self titled
-Latyrx-the album
-Talib Kweli-Quality (i havent fully listend to the 2nd half of the album)
-Hieroglyphics-Full Circle (the lack of Del on this record is a dissapointment, and my bad ass stereo fucks up playing this cd for some reason)
some older ones i havent been listening to enough:
-Quasimoto-The Unseen (ive gotta be in the mood for this one, plus its a long album)
-Freestyle Fellowship-Shockadoom (im having a friend of mine burn this cd for me. i try to always burn my cds once i get em. this is for 2 reasons: if they jacked, ive got the originals at home. If they get scratched, i can always make another copy. but i mostly listen to the burned ones....i gave her this cd like a month ago! lol...its cool...i cant complain over a favor)
-Project Blowed Presents: the good brothers (okay album, but ive got better ones id rather hear, you know?)
-Dialated Peoples-Expansion Team (some tracks are too mainstream for me)
the cd's i got just recently and havent listend to them enough yet:
-Viktor Vaugn-Venomous Villian (brank fuckin new record)
-Del the funkee homosapien-no need for alarm (throwback album! lol)
-Latyrx-The album (reprinting the original from '97)
-Hieroglyphics-Full Circle (just havent had the time)
and of course, all the albums that have so much content that you couldnt understand all of it if u listen to it for years upon years:
-ALL of MF DOOM and AESOP ROCK...everything they spit either has 2 meanings, is deeper than you'd expect, or you just dont get yet...itll come to you in time though...dont fret
i did this today, for the following reasons:
-I wanted to let you cats into my brain a bit more than what you recieve from seeing my art
-Im hyped up on like 3 diff medicines (only person in cali, who, DURING summer, catches a cold, and im too stubborn to take medicines every 4 hours whatever bullshit) so yeah...my brain is a little bit too mellow at the moment...i need some easy listening about now...Quasimoto, Latryx, i need u to help me through this shit...
-Im bored as fuck...
-Ive been meaning to do this
-I have college classes starting up next week, and want to enjoy the rest of my summer
things i gotta do tomarrow:
-mow my stupid ass lawn..that bastard will never stop growing, wtf?
-do some arrands for my mom
-send my sister some cd's so she can attempt to appreciate what i listen to
-get my damn GARNETT shoes that ive been dying to get since i saw em! not the b ball ones, the "relaxing" ones, the casuals. ima get the all white low tops...and i dont own a pair of all white shoes either lol! but i can afford to buy em now, what whit my 50% off discount and all...heh heh....
-um...is that it? hope so...
